Rams’ Eliza Rego second in girls mile run

19 April – – Barrington High junior Bobby Colantonio emerged as champion in the boys’ 12-pound hammer throw at the New York Relays over the weekend at Ichan Stadium, Randall’s Island, New York City. Colantonio got off a throw of 238 feet, 7 inches (72.72 meters) for the gold medal. His toss was a meet and stadium record, bettering the distance of former Barrington weight man Charlie Ionata; that mark was 228-4 (69.60) set in 2013.
In the girls’ 9 kilo hammer, it was Classical High junior Lysah Russell with a winning throw of 149-6 (45.56).
In the girls’ mile run, La Salle junior Eliza Rego placed second with a time of 4:55.70.

QUAKERS’ RUSSELL TOPS AT THROWERS’ PENTATHLON
Owen Russell, of Moses Brown School, tallied 2,552 points to win the Cumberland Throwers’ Pentathlon at Cumberland. Russell won the discus (130-8/39.84) and hammer (214-1 (65.25).
