EAGLES’ KELLY, MARINERS’ THOMAS EVENT WINNERS AT “HAMMER-RAMA’’

6 July – – Adam Kelly, recently graduated from Barrington High, and Makena Thomas, of Narragansett were respective winners at the 2015 “Hammer-rama’’ event,  held on Sunday at Curtis Corner Middle School in South Kingstown. Kelly placed second in the 7.26-kilo (international weight) hammer, at 200-6 (61.11).

The Princeton-bound Kelly won the boys’ 5.44-kilo (12-lb.) hammer with a mark of 241-11 (73.74 meters). In the girls’ 4-kilo (9-lb.) event, Thomas threw for 167-11 (51.18).

Barrington High incoming freshman Annika Kelly took the girls’ 3-kilo (7-lb.) hammer throw with a toss of 158-6 (48.32). Crystal Bourque, of Coventry, won the Women’s Open 4-kilo event; her implement went 193-7 (59.01).
