R.I. Track & Field Foundation
La Salle’s top distance runners on its boys’ team competed on Saturday at the Boston University “mini-meet’’, held at BU’s new indoor track. In Section 1 of the mile, seniors Jack Salisbury and Matt Bouthillette finished 3-4. Junior DJ Principe came in fifth.
The top section winner was former East Greenwich standout Ben Fazio, who clocked 4:11.19 (= 3:52.8 @ 1500 meters). Fazio is currently a junior at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute, majoring in engineering. Salisbury crossed the line in 4:12.43 (= 3:53.8 @ 1500). Bouthillette’s time was 4:12.65. Principe hit the tape in 4:15.41 (= 3:56.6 @ 1500).
In Section 1 of the 3000 meters, former Avenger Nick Ross posted a winning time of 8;07.54. Ross, a graduate of La Salle University, is working in the New England Distance Project.
