Skippers, Cumberland close in girls’ survey; spots 2-3-4 tight in boys’ poll

12 Oct. – – La Salle’s teams again topped the second of three cross country coaches polls as conducted by R.I. Track & Field Foundation. The girls picked up 147 points and 11 first-place ballots, while Cumberland garnered 142 points and four first-place votes. North Kingstown was next (127) with a first-place vote.
The boys’ voting went to La Salle with 15 first-place ballots and 159 points. Hendricken placed second with 144 points and a first-place vote. The margin between third and fourth spot was thin, with the Skippers tallying 115 points (plus moving up three notches from the September poll), and East Greenwich collecting 114. Also improving positions was Scituate, going from No. 8 last month to sixth place in this poll.
The final RIT&FF poll will be conducted just prior to the Nov. 6 State Meet.
