R.I. Track & Field Foundation
14 Oct. – – The first annual East Greenwich Cross Country Invitational was held on Thursday on the high school grounds, and drew a total 28 teams and 372 varsity runners. In the girls’ varsity 3.1-miler, Westerly junior Randi Burr won by a margin of a minute and a half over the No. 2 runner. Burr clocked 18 minutes 19 seconds for the gold medal. East Greenwich senior Jackson Cronin took the boys’ varsity division in a time of 15:56.
The host school took team honors in both varsity races. The EG girls’ team downed Westerly, 65-73, while the Avenger boys were 43-97 over second-place Scituate.
