12 May – – Barrington convincingly won the Eastern Division title at Portsmouth High, while at Conley Stadium in Providence, Classical took all the marbles in the Central Division meet. In the Eastern event, Barrington freshman Annika Kelly unloaded the 9-pound hammer a winning 150-4 (45.82). Patriot freshman Elizabeth Sullivan took the 3000 in 11:09.1
It was Classical’s talented dash person May Stern winning both sprints at the Central Division meet. Stern clocked 12.2 in the 100 meters and 25.7 for 200 meters. Senior Courtney Jacobsen, of Toll Gate, currently the second-ranked hammer thrower in the U.S., got off a winning mark of 179 feet, 4 inches (54.66).
