14 Oct. – – The La Salle girls’ cross country team again led the RIT&FF coaches poll; the second of three surveys. The Rams compiled 160 points (with all 16 coaches casting first-place ballots). North Kingstown gathered 138 points for the No. 2 spot, with Cumberland edging Barrington, 115-113 for the third position.
The boys’ survey was tighter, as Hendricken out-pointed La Salle, 143-142. Of the 15 participating coaches, nine placed the Hawks first. Six coaches put the Rams tops. East Greenwich totaled 116 points for the third spot. The Rams were ranked first in the Sept. 8 survey, Hendricken second.
The final poll will be held Nov. 3, ahead of the Nov. 8 State Championship.
