14 Feb. – – La Salle senior Jack Salisbury on Sunday won the junior mile event at the New Balance “Grand Prix’’ track meet at Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury. He was timed in 4 minutes, 8.74 seconds on the banked oval (= 3:50.6 @ 1500m.) Placing second was senior Aiden Tooker, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. in 4:09.54.
Salisbury finished second in a close race at the 2015 Grand Prix junior mile. His time on Sunday was a scant 27 1/100ths of a second off the R.I. state indoor mile record of 4:08.47, set in 2009 by Westerly’s Andrew Springer.
Finishing third in Sunday’s mile run was Ram junior David “DJ’’ Principe in 4:11.53 (= 3:52.9 @ 1500m). La Salle senior Matt Bouthillette placed tenth in 4:20.15 (= 4:007 @ 1500.)
In the girls’ mile at Reggie Lewis, Ram senior Eliza Rego placed eighth in 4:54.79 (= 4:33.1 @ 1500.) That race was won by senior Stephanie Jenks, of Iowa, in 4:47.48.
