In the girls’ long jump, Kate Hall, a senior from Lake Region High in Naples, Me., powered to a New England record of 20 feet, 6 inches (6.24). Hall’s jump is No. 13 on the all-time national indoor list, as maintained by Track & Field News. (Carol Lewis, of Dallas, Tex., set the United States indoor prep record of 21-7.50/6.59 in 1981.)
At the Dec. 27 R.I. Classic meet at the PCTA facility in Providence, Hall (who also owns a 7.06 time for the 55-meter dash) unloaded for a distance of 19-7.50 (5.98) to win the long jump by nearly two feet. Hall’s performance at Reggie Lewis on Friday is a P-R. Her previous best was 19-11.50 (6.08). She will attend Iowa State University in the fall.
